Te Arai Lodge is a proud sponsor of NZ Forest and Bird. They also have a long-term sustained pest eradication initiative trapping possums, stoats and rats, which has resulted in a regeneration of native birdlife that now thrives in the region.
Vince and Kathy Moores have personally planted more than 4000 shrubs, trees and plants together with an extensive array of raised vegetable and herb gardens.
“Garden-to-table” is the essence of the food offering at Te Arai Lodge, using organic produce grown on the estate complemented with fresh local produce. They also produce their own olive oil and honey from the property which is served to guests.
42 solar panels sustainably power the lodge and they capture and filter all their own rain water. No chemical cleaning products are used at Te Arai; only eco-friendly natural cleaning products. Te Arai is plastic-free wherever possible with no single-use plastic used onsite.
All products provided and used onsite are New Zealand made, sustainable and plastic free. For example guests are provided with reusable GoodFor water bottles, Allbird sandals made from sugarcane, biodegradable wool slippers and refillable Sans Ceuticals body products.
Signature Experience
Golfing paradise
Te Arai Lodge is located in golfing paradise only 15 minutes drive from New Zealand’s premier golf resort, Te Arai Links, and less than an hour’s drive from several top 30 New Zealand golf courses.
The South Course at Te Arai Links was recently ranked No.2 in New Zealand and with the North Course set to open in 2023 to similar accolades, Te Arai is quickly becoming one of the world’s great golfing destinations alongside the likes of the Monterey Peninsula, St Andrews and Bandon Dunes.
Positioned alongside one of New Zealand’s most pristine beaches, Te Arai Links offers a pure links golf experience, incredible scenery and world class facilities with multiple restaurants, bars and the world’s largest putting green, called The Playground (2-acres in size) making it a must visit for any golfing fanatic.
Garden-to-table dining
“Garden-to-table" is the essence of the food offering at Te Arai Lodge, using organic produce grown on the estate complemented with local food producers and artisans.
The style of cuisine at Te Arai Lodge is inspired by the slow food movement and celebrates the provenance of the produce working in harmony with the seasons and what the land offers day by day.
In a warm and inviting atmosphere, much like dining in a friends gourmet kitchen, guests can choose to source produce from the gardens with the chef, to observe or partake in the finishing touches of the offerings or to simply relax by the open fire on the terrace with a drink.
